We offer life skills training to help young people prepare for adulthood, or individuals with special needs transition back to the community. We aim to promote and strengthen our resident’s personal skills and to encourage a sense of well-being and independence so they can participate in society.
The Direct Support Professional and the Program Director are in charge of teaching the following life skills to our residents.
- Anger Management
- Personal Hygiene Management
- Household Skills
- Employment Skills
- Grocery Shopping
- Time Management
- Money Management
Our focus is hands-on teaching, including but not limited to the following:
- Cognitive skills building and enhancement
- Promoting social skills
- Promoting good hygiene
- Performing daily chores
- Taking the residents to banking institutions to speak with a customer service representative about money management and opening a savings account.
- Goal Charting
- Each RSC will assist the resident in identifying their short and long- term goals.
- Residents will have the opportunity to watch videos about life skills.
- Visual Aids such as calendars, bulletin boards, and posters will be used to help assist the residents with daily reminders and help to facilitate a learning environment.
- Meal preparation (if applicable)
We determine each person’s needs based on their circumstances, interests, preferences, goals, and care requirements. We understand that every person we support is unique, so we strive hard to provide person-centered services that can match their specifications.
